Portable Lamp for HAY

Portable Lamp

The brief for this project was to create a portable lamp for a company of our choice. I chose the danish company HAY. The task I wanted to focus on was to achieve a balance between my design style and theirs.

MoodBoard

In this mood board I wanted to portray my playful approach to design, as well as the colourful aspect that I always try to include in my projects.

Preliminary Sketch

In this first version of the lamp, I wanted to illustrate the simplicity of the idea as well as the added functionality aspect beside the portability.

Main Goals

My personal brief for this project:

With all my projects I like to create a personal brief in order to give my project a more impactful concept.

Part of my mission, wasn’t only to create an object that would fit the company’s aesthetic, but making sure the product was highly functional while at the same time keeping in mind my goal of playfulness, which can also be seen at the core of the company.

GNOME

The color palette I followed for this project is inspired by my Mexican roots, more specifically this are colours that you can find in Frida Kahlo's house in Mexico City. I take great pride in my cultural background and always try to find a way to incorporate it into my designs.

Technical Aspects

I took my time to figure out the best way to make sure that this lamp was not only Aesthetically pleasing, but highly functional.

Renders

For the renders of this lamp, I took pictures directly form HAY's website to illustrate how seamlessly my product would fit in with their existing catalouge.
